What's New

We at MCAN, and specifically the Maternal Mental Health Mandate Committee, along with other fabulous #MaternalMentalHealth advocates are wondering why #BellLetsTalk has not brought any awareness to Postpartum Mood and Anxiety disorders in the 7 years it has been running. Share your story with the #BellLetsTalkMaternalMentalHealth if you think mom's mental health matters too!

We are so excited to announce the release of our formal Strategic Plan. Check it out!

"Birth is not only about making babies. Birth is about making mothers...strong, competent, capable mothers who trust themselves and know their inner strength."

~ Barbara Katz Rothman~

We advocate for Alberta women's rights to make informed choices and have equal access to publicly funded, quality maternity care of their choosing in their community (whether provided by midwives, physicians or obstetricians).

We have gathered information from across Alberta to better understand the most pressing consumer needs in regards to maternity care. We conducted an online survey garnering over 1200 responses, organized and ran 9 focus groups as part of our listening campaign, and held our annual Face-to-Face with MCAN's Leadership and stakeholders.

Our Maternity Care Priorities Report was released on November 5, 2014.
