Regional Leader

MCAN is continuously looking to add Regional Leaders to areas of Alberta that are currently unrepresented or under-represented.

 

Regional Leader Role Description:

  • Keeps up to date on current events within the organization and participates in social media campaigns  
  • Stays abreast of maternity care issues in their region and provide updates to the Vice President - Leadership  
  • Provides resource information for their region to the Website & Social Media Committee and reviews the information annually to ensure relevance and accuracy  
  • Joins and is a contributing member of at least one Mandate Committee  
  • Manages and maintains the email account for their region  
  • Attends informational and educational Leaders’ meetings 3 times per year  
  • Advises the Vice President - Leadership of regional location, contact information, areas of creative interest and professional/occupational strengths that can support MCAN’s goals  
  • Represents MCAN at regional maternity care events or committees  
  • Acts as a liaison between MCAN and regional community members  
  • Acts as a liaison between MCAN and the MLA in the region’s riding  
  • Identifies potential volunteers for succession planning and expansion of the role  

As per MCAN's Bylaws, Regional Leaders are required to be registered Members of the Society

Below is a list of the regions and areas where a Regional Leader is needed. The Region names are associated with MLA ridings. Cities and towns are listed to provide reference to the geographical area. Some large regions can certainly benefit from having more than one Regional Leader due to geographical size and/or population, and so the Region could be split up with another Regional Leader so that you can represent your designated area comfortably.

 

North Eastern Regions

  • Fort McMurray & Wood Buffalo (2 ridings so 2 Regional Leaders are required)

  • Grande Prairie-Smoky (Grande Prairie, Clairmont, Fox Creek, Sexsmith, Valleyview)
